Sheldon Haudenschild Wins Buckeye Brawl Finale at Sharon Speedway

Haudenschild’s late pass decides Sharon feature

Sheldon Haudenschild turned a 10th-place starting spot into victory in the 30-lap World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series feature at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. His decisive move came with seven laps remaining in the final round of the NOS Energy Drink Buckeye Brawl, as he swept around Logan Schuchart to take the lead.

Donny Schatz started from the pole and led early, with Schuchart moving into second. A caution followed Carson Macedo’s contact with the wall on lap four; another stoppage came after a multi-car tangle at the restart. Once racing settled, Schatz held the lead ahead of Schuchart and Macedo.

Schuchart pressured Schatz through the opening half. On lap 12, he went to the bottom and completed the pass for first. Haudenschild was closing behind them, working past Schatz for second as the race moved toward its final stretch.

Macedo was running fourth when a flat tire slowed him with seven laps to go and brought out another caution. Haudenschild challenged Schuchart on the restart, first looking low and then running alongside him. He carried speed around the outside and cleared Schuchart coming off turn four. Haudenschild held on to win; Schuchart finished second.

Top finishers and race context

David Gravel completed the podium in third, followed by Garet Williamson in fourth and Schatz in fifth. Michael Kofoid, Cole Macedo, Dale Blaney, Emerson Axsom and Skylar Gee rounded out the top 10. Cameron Smith, who started second, finished 11th.

The result capped the three-round Buckeye Brawl, whose earlier stops were Millstream and Mansfield. Sharon’s 3/8-mile dirt oval hosted the finale, with $18,000 going to the winner. The closing battle gave the event a clear turning point: Schuchart had taken control from Schatz, but Haudenschild’s outside run settled the race in the last laps.

Carson Macedo, who was fastest in Flight A qualifying and won Heat 1, retired from the feature and was classified 23rd. Spencer Bayston also recorded a DNF. The 24-car feature included 22 classified finishers.

Qualifying and preliminary races

Carson Macedo set the quickest Flight A qualifying time at 13.641 seconds over two laps. Michael Kofoid was second at 13.773, while Steven Snyder Jr., Emerson Axsom and Schatz completed the flight’s top five. In Flight B, Gravel led with 13.937 seconds, ahead of Bryce Lucius, Smith, Blaney and Haudenschild.

Skylar Gee topped the Race//Ready hot laps with a 13.646-second circuit. Kofoid and Brock Zearfoss tied at 13.697 for the next listed time. Those practice results differed from the later qualifying order: Gee led the early session, while Macedo and Gravel set the pace in their respective qualifying flights.

Macedo, Axsom, Gravel and Schuchart won the four eight-lap heat races. The Toyota Dash put Schatz on the pole for the feature, with Smith alongside him; Schuchart lined up third and Gravel fourth. Haudenschild started 10th, leaving him traffic to work through before he could challenge the leaders.

Nate Dussel won the 12-lap MicroLite Last Chance Showdown, with Logan McCandless second and Brandon Spithaler third. Creed Kemenah took the eight-lap C Feature. Those races filled out the field for the main event and placed Dussel, McCandless and Spithaler among the drivers who advanced to the feature.
